city. i remember the first window i ever made in stained glass and when it illuminated, boom! and it lights up. or, like when you're in the house during the day, boom! and color just pours through your hallways or lights up your stairwells. what i love about it is there is so much to learn from this medium constantly 'cause it's not just about stained-glass windows. like, a stained-glass window is attractive, but when you put it in a house, it can become like a screen to another room. it gives you an introduction to other spaces, it brings you into someone's front door. it gives you a feeling. it's like a marriage of art and architecture and it's so permanent. it's like it becomes part of a city part of a street scene. it's for the whole community so if you did your front doors in stained glass everybody gets to enjoy it when they walk by at night. everybody gets to appreciate it. i would say it's like jewelry on a woman. it's like embellishment on a house. it's like... the creme de la crem

yes, my quilt guild, mad city quilters had a newsletter. in the newsletter, there was an article saying that there was a group of hmong women in madison and that their group was in need of some sewing supplies and sewing machines. so i thought i've got an extra machine i'd love to donate it. so i spoke with the coordinator who was collecting the materials. she was very clever and she said "well, i'd love to have your donation but why don't you come out and meet these women and see who you're donating to." the hook was set. it's been such a lovely experience since then. i was showing them one of my quilts and one of them who had some english held it up and said, "you teach me to make?" i said, "yes, i will teach you." you started by teaching the basic log cabin using foundation. these are your samples you work with. these are the samples. because they don't speak much english and i certainly don't speak hmong i teach them by showing them with a sample how things are actually made. a traditional american-style quilt block. exactly, and what h

this is what we're talking about around much of the rest of the city. the side streets are still in quasi good shape. the other streets are treacherous. the sun was out brilliantly today. it was melting a bit of the snow. but now that the temperatures are dipping down as the sun goes down it's just freezing up again. some of these streets can be treacherous to get around. we're seeing a lot of people slipping and sliding. then as you can see, some of the cars are still parked on the street. some are still wrapped up in snow. i don't know what it's going to take to move them out of the way. the city has been working very hard throughout sunday trying to clear the transit tracks to make sure they can get on a quasi normal schedule. buses will be running in part. things won't be completely back to normal for quite a while. logan international airport back open, however. that's a good sign. but the morning commute, they are forecasting freezing rain, brianna. and so that could obviously make things difficult. brianna? >> oh, that's the worst. that is not go
